Today, Rebecca and I joined our Cannes friends (Nino & Sylvie) for lunch at their club.
It was a beautiful place and we always enjoy their company and conversation.

Nice, Thursday, October 31, 2025
I booked an appointment at the Nice Prefecture for an emergency extension of my residence card so I can leave the EU legally.
As I was on the tram arriving, I received a call from them asking about the purpose of my visit. I explained. The lady then told me that my appointment was to renew my French driver’s license (which I don’t have).
Ignoring her, I arrived anyway, talked my way past the guards, and played the “I’m the confused grandfather”role. It worked and she convinced one of her colleagues to issue me a 3-month extension.
Whew!
Afterwards, I joined our Nice friends for lunch, and bought two new pairs of glasses in Nice.

Another beautiful sunset off our terrace.

Feeling better, I headed out to take a few shots around town on my now resumed daily walk. There are always a few things of interest at the local flea market.

YIKES!!
When we returned from Italy, I suddenly realized that my Residence card VLS-TS would expire in a few weeks. The usual renewal time in France is three months. I dropped the ball. We were planning to visit the US in a month.
I quickly sent in the required information online and hit send.

We returned from our trip with a travel virus, which slowed us down for a week or two.
